Three extraordinary soloists team up for Beethoven's monumental concerto!
The program opens with Principal Clarinetist, Jennifer Royals performing the world premiere of Vero Beach composer, R. Michael Daugherty’s joyous Concerto for B-flat Clarinet and String Orchestra. Also on the program is work written by our conductor, Aaron Collins.
Scenes for String Orchestra
was a composition Collins wrote while attending the Film, TV, and Game Scoring Program in Los Angeles in 1996 and premiered by the Charlotte Symphony the following year. The lush dramatic work which is a nod to composer, Bernard Herrmann, features seven imaginary scenes each with a unique character. To close out the concert, three extraordinary soloists team up for a one of a kind work, Beethoven’s “Triple” Concerto, one of Beethoven’s most soulful, challenging, and charming concertos. When played by musicians of the caliber of Lindsay Garritson, Carey Moorman and Isaac Moorman, Beethoven’s masterful piano trio with orchestra is three times the fun of a solo concerto.
