Have you met Romeo, the Parrot? He is one of the many pets that are found at Airboat Rides at Midway.
Romeo is a 40-year-olf Green Yellow-fronted Amazon Parrot. These species of parrots are native to the tropical rainforest areas of Northern South and Central America, Trinidad, and Tobago.
These types of Parrots favor humid and dry climate conditions.
Romeo is the grandpa of the group of birds that call Airboat Rides at Midway home.
He is shy and an independent bird who doesn’t seem to play well with others but does like visitors - though he tends to keep to himself around new people.
Romeo’s favorite foods are Saltine Crackers, Apples, and Peanuts. He spends most of his day napping in his cage, enjoying the Florida humidity.
Yellow-Fronted Amazon parrots are known for their playful antics and excellent talking abilities and have loud voices. They are excellent talkers and singers, but Romeo’s favorite word is “Hello.”
At the ripe age of 40- years-old, Romeo can live up to anywhere upwards of 80 to 90-years-old.
Next time you take a tour at Airboat Rides at Midway, be sure to stop by Romeo’s cage afterward and give him a quick hello!
