Event Description

Mzuri Moyo Aimbaye chronicles the unwavering activism of the dramatic life story of Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer in this compelling multi-award-winning one-woman play. The production inspires community civic engagement by immersing the audience in this riveting theatrical production integrating storytelling, emotionally stirring nostalgic songs of the civil rights era underscored by a graphic video montage.

This civic engagement project includes a 75 min preperformance workshop on Mon, Feb 27 at 1 PM ONLY featuring:

  • Activism
  • Character development (participants are encouraged to be prepared to develop characters they wish to bring to life) Studio Theatre
  • Singing (participants will perform Fannie Lou Hamer’s signature song to galvanize and enliven the audience call and response)
  • Town Hall discussion (30 minutes)
  • Bi-partisan voter registration (set up in the lobby)

*Workshop participants are encouraged to register for the opening procession at one or both performances.
